Prerequisites​

Setup Process​

1. 📞 Phone Number ID Setup​

  1. In your Facebook App's left sidebar, expand the WhatsApp menu.
  2. Select "API Setup".
  3. Next to "Phone Number ID", click Copy.
  4. Paste this value in the Phone Number ID field on the Bot Setup page.

2. 🔐 Access Token Setup​

Choose between two types of Access Tokens:

A. Temporary Access Token (24-hour validity)​

  1. In your Facebook App's left sidebar, expand the WhatsApp menu.
  2. Select "API Setup".
  3. In the "Temporary access token" section, click Copy.
  4. Paste this value in the Access Token field on the Bot Setup page.

Temporary Access Tokens expire after 24 hours. You'll need to generate a new one daily.

B. Permanent Access Token (Optional)​

  1. Go to Business Settings.
  2. Select your app's associated business account.
  3. Under Users, click on System Users.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Name the system user, select Admin as the user role, and click Create System User.
  6. Choose the whatsapp_business_messaging permission.
  7. Click Generate New Token.
  8. Copy and securely store your Permanent Access Token.

3. 🔗 Webhook Setup​

  1. Copy the webhook URL from the Bot Setup page.
  2. Paste this URL in your Facebook account settings.

4. 🧠 Knowledge Base Selection​

  • Choose a knowledge base for your chatbot.
  • If none is selected, it will default to a GPT-like model.

Troubleshooting​

If your integration isn't working:

  • Double-check all IDs and tokens for accuracy.
  • Ensure your WhatsApp Business Account is active.
  • Verify that your Facebook Developer App has the necessary permissions.
